As 2017 ended, the U.S. Senate confirmed Preston Rutledge as the new assistant secretary of labor for the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA). Rutledge, the GOP’s senior tax and benefits counsel on the Senate Finance Committee, will oversee a compliance agenda for employee benefit plans that ranges from revisiting the Department of Labor’s fiduciary rule to revising Affordable Care Act regulations.
